However, there has been some recent controversy with how these stores are dealing out their membership prices and perks.

Starting September 1st, Colorado Costco shoppers will have to deal with a new price jump, with the basic membership going from $60 to $65.

The premium membership will also be going up, from $120 to $130.

However, Costco’s competitor, Sam’s Club, is also getting into hot water with consumers, taking away a critical feature of their service.

Sam’s Club Plus is the higher tier of membership you can get there, and comes with many different perks you can’t get on the normal $50 per year program.

For $110, you get things like pharmacy and optical savings, free curbside pickup, early shopping, and free shipping, which is a fan favorite.

However, that beloved perk for many Plus users will soon be going by the wayside here very shortly.

According to MSN, Sam’s Club Plus members can only get free shipping on orders that are $50 or more.

This change will begin on August 19th.

Are People Taking This Change Well?

No, not really.

MSN found multiple different people taking to X, formerly known as Twitter, to air their grievances with the change.

Many people feel like it’s just another example of the company taking away perks while keeping prices the same.

According to The Street, the free shipping was a perk that Sam’s Club Plus members had over Costco shoppers. Now, the lack of that perk means that some customers may find themselves at the competitor’s doorstep.

Only time will tell if Sam’s Club will lose a significant portion of its premium customer base to this change.
