Odell Brewing Co.’s First 2013 Cellar Series Brew – Amuste Oak Aged Imperial Porter

Odell Brewing Co. announced today (Jan. 28th) that its first Cellar Series of 2013 will be an imperial porter brewed with grape must and aged in red wine barrels. The idea is unique to me, but the brew is sure to get you drunk at 9.3% alcohol by volume.
After two years of perfecting the brew called Amuste Oak Aged Imperial Porter, will finally hit stores on February 9th.
Odell blended the qualities of beer and wine together by using juice from Tempranillo grapes grown on the Western Slope of Colorado. The beer then aged in red wine barrels, and was blended to combine the malt and fruit, according to the brewery.
The beer boasts a hearty malt backbone with notes of chocolate, a subtle sweet grape character, and hints of toasted almond from the oak barrels. It pairs perfectly with peppered red meats, brie cheese, or dark chocolate, according to the brewery.
Odell Brewing will hold a release party for Amuste in the Tap Room on Feb. 9th with live music and local food-truck pairings.
Amuste will be available to the public in 750 ml cork and cage finished bottles throughout the brewery’s ten-state distribution footprint.
