Organizers say that preparing for future shortages is a key topic for everyone. The summit will take place on May 19th at the Montrose Event Center from 7 to 11 a.m., with a complimentary breakfast provided.

Why Colorado River Concerns Are Hitting Farmers Hard

If not for reliable irrigation, the agricultural community in Western Colorado would not have made it this far. Engineering accomplishments such as the Gunnison Tunnel in Montrose and the Government Highline Canal in Grand Junction brought farming to life on the Western Slope. Discussions at this year's summit are expected to include drought and overuse, long-term challenges from hay production to livestock operations, and local food systems.
