New Asphalt in Downtown Loveland Means New Road Closures

Many cities in Colorado take the opportunity of having nice weather during the summer to do road work. Loveland is no stranger to that; before the summer of 2026 officially comes to an end, commuters will have to deal with two closures.

With the 'Un-Official End of Summer' Road Signs in Loveland Began Showing Up

With the new repaving projects coming up, which began on September 8, 2026, the City of Loveland began getting things ready by bringing in "Road Closed" and "Detour" signs, along with cones, etc. I tried to find out exactly what was coming, but came up empty. Then, on September 8, the City sent a press release about the project.

The City of Loveland Public Works Department has implemented the following closures:

• September 8-14, 2026: First Street will be closed from the pickleball courts to Franklin Avenue. Eastbound travelers will be detoured at Taft to head either north to Eisenhower or south to Highway 402. Westbound travelers will be detoured at Highway 287 to either head north on Lincoln to Eisenhower or head south on Cleveland to Highway 402.
• September 15-21, 2026: A part of Railroad Avenue will be closed between southeast Third Street and [somewhere] north of Old Fairgrounds Park. Northbound travelers will be detoured at Highway 402 east to Highway 287 and then back north to First Street. Southbound travelers will be detoured onto Cleveland to head south to Highway 402.

The City states that the work will help improve safety and drivability, while extending the life of the roads.
