How Long Has Deppen Brewing Been in Wellington, Colorado?

Deppen Brewing took over the space that was Sparge Brewing in late 2024; they're located eight miles north of Fort Collins in south Wellington off of the I-25 Frontage Road on George W. Bush Avenue. The thing is, while Deppen has been in Northern Colorado since 2024, it's been around since 1845.

Deppen Brewing's roots go back to 1845 when Nikolas Felix opened the Spring Garden Brewery in Reading, Pennsylvania. Felix's son-in-law, Dr. William Deppen, took over the business after Felix's death in 1874. The brewery did well under Deppenn's reign, but prohibition became too much for the brewery to overcome and it closed.
