Hard Cider Coming to Loveland
Don't get me wrong, I love beer, but there are times when you just aren't feeling it. And as a male, you lose a little bit of your edge if you are seen carrying a Mikes Hard Lemonade. Thank goodness some genius figured out how to make a hard cider that tastes like apple juice, but looks cool like beer! Soon, Loveland will have a hard cider of their own!
Apparently the guys at Big Beaver Brewing in Loveland also have had this manly dilemma once or twice, because they are the people behind bringing cider to Loveland. Ok, so I don't know the real reason they are venturing into fermenting fruit, but I do know they are damn good at fermenting grains, and naming them too (Shaved Tail Ale & Potent Pecker Pilsner just to name a couple). So, the thought of these guys making a cider has got me all wet... From drooling!
Blown Spoke Hard Cider Co., will be a bicycle-themed cidery and part-time meadery, and opens Aug. 3 at 2707 W. Eisenhower Blvd., in the space adjacent to Big Beaver.
Blown Spoke will have 10 ciders on tap, featuring several varieties of the classic hard apple cider, plus flavored blends such as cranberry, passion fruit and pomegranate. For some of the flavors, including apple and cranberry, customers will be able to choose from several different levels of sweetness. The cidery won't use any additives or preservatives, and all of it's fruit will be shipped from Michigan.
For the time being, Blown Spoke will open only on Saturdays, but the owners believe that won't take long to change!
