Colorado Tornado Warning To Be Tested Today

As part of severe weather awareness week, the national weather service will test its statewide tornado warning system today. TV viewers and radio listeners can hear the warning anytime between 9:15 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. If you have a severe weather radio, you will also get the alert during that time frame. Residents in some communities may hear warning sirens as well.

On average, 50 tornadoes touch down and lightning kills about three people in the state, injuring another 13 each year. "Not only does Colorado get severe weather, Weld County has had more tornadoes than any other single county in the U.S. in the last 50 years," said Mike Nelson, chief meteorologist at 7NEWS.
