What is Steve Martin’s Oscars Advice to Eddie Murphy?

On September 6th, actor/comedian Eddie Murphy was announced to host the 84th Academy Awards (The Oscars) -set for February 26th.

Steve Martin, who has hosted The Oscars three times himself, has some great advice for his former co-star!

Funny stuff...

Steve Martin has had a few chances at pleasing the live audience and world audience as host of the Academy Awards in 2001, 2003 and in 2010 (with co-host Alec Baldwin).

In an open-letter on his website, the 66 year-old live comedy veteran gives his co-star from "Bowfinger" some sage advice:

The losers can feel very sad, so when you're backstage with them, pat their backs and shake your head sadly. It's a blast!

Try slimming down now- you looked kind of paunchy in "Norbit"

If you feel tired midway through, give Neil Patrick Harris a Red Bull throw some sheet music at him!

Whatever you do, don't have a co-host. They're a big pain, and they just end up breaking your SNL hosting record.

Steve has won several awards- including Grammy Awards, and Emmy Award and the Mark Twain Award for American Humor- but he has yet to win -or be nominated for- an Academy Award.

Eddie has won several awards for his both his comedic acting AND writing abilty; but won an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor in his dramatic role in 2006’s “Dreamgirls”
