What is FOCOMX? [VIDEO]
It's actually called the Fort Collins Music eXperiment, but the cool kids all call it FoCoMX. So, what is it? Basically, it's a two day festival where Fort Collins turns into a big mixing bowl full of about every different type of music there is at all kinds of different venues. You swirl it all together and what comes out? A lot of fun, and FoCoMX of course!
This year is the 4th annual FoCoMX and will take place Friday, April 13th and Saturday, April 14th. Over 300 bands at 30 venues over two nights, featuring all genres of music at various venues in Fort Collins. The festival will have something for kids to adults of all ages, with most venues starting at 6PM and ending at 2AM on both Friday and Saturday night.
FoCoMX is put on by Fort Collins Musicians Association (FoCoMA), a non-profit organization in Northern Colorado that provides education, support, and networking opportunities for the Fort Collins music community. FoCoMA is striving to bring together the Fort Collins music community and inspire it to create great music while increasing awareness to all of its musical endeavors.
Along with free musicians education panels, free children’s workshops, silent disco, and silent films with live music, this years festival will also feature some national touring acts. Chad Price of Drag the River and All, Candy Claws, Danielle Ate the Sandwich, Good Gravy, Johnny Hickman of Cracker, and "American Idol" sensation Magic Cyclops will all be joined by local bands. Anything from classic rock, country, and hip-hop, to electronic, metal, and blues, and everything in between can be found at this years FoCoMX.
