Van Halen, ‘Dreams’ – Butch’s Way Back Wednesday
As a music fan there is always something new and great, but there really is something special about the songs you grew up listening to. For me, that was 70′s and 80′s classic rock. If I am in a shi**y mood, I throw in a little Zeppelin or Rush and take a trip back to rolling in my mom’s T-Bird. Now every Wednesday you get to take that trip with me. It’s Way Back Wednesday with Butch, and today we feature a dude who will be in our neighborhood August 20th... Sammy Hagar (in the form of Van Halen) and their 1986 hit "Dreams.”
"Dreams" was released in 1986 from the album 5150. It was the second single from that album, and it reached #22 in the Billboard Hot 100 chart that year.
Throughout the "Van Hagar" era, it became increasingly clear that Eddie Van Halen's true, or perhaps new, love was music, not rock and roll. This understandably threw some fans of the Roth era for a loop, but if you can accept that Sammy Hagar's powerful voice and diverse (if conventional) songwriting skills helped your hero get where he wanted to go, how can you deny a soaring piece of pop magic like this?
Now take a trip back 27 years to 1986 with us here...
Be sure and get your tickets to see Sammy at the Budweiser Events Center August 20th, and also listen all month to the Butch Show for your chance to win 'em!
