The BP Gulf Oil Spill One Year Later- Where It Ranks Among The World’s Most Expensive Accidents [VIDEO]
It was one year ago today that the BP Gulf oil spill was finally ended as a 75 ton cap was lowered on to the well to stop the flow of oil into the Gulf of Mexico. 85 days before the spill began, and by the time it was stopped BP had lost between 17 and 39 million gallons of oil into the ocean.
Along with the thousands of animals and fisherman, and those close to Gulf affected, there was obviously a substantial amount of money lost. Although it will take years to know exactly what the oil spill will actually cost, it is estimated that the number will be somewhere near the 12 and a half billion dollar mark. This makes the BP Gulf oil spill the third most expensive accident in the history of the world.
Here is the list of the most expensive accidents to ever happen in the world as we know it. Please note it was made before the BP Gulf oil spill, so that is not included, but it would be in the third position if the video was re-made. Also, take note that many of these events would have been more expensive if they happened in today's economy.
