Sports Authority, as you know, had to change course - in fact, so rapidly that it scrapped plans for a Foothills Mall location last minute.  However, Mile High Stadium likely won't be taking on a new naming sponsor for a good long while.  And the reason is the same for both:

A void was left in Fort Collins when Sport Authority folded. A new sporting goods store plans to lease the vacant Sports Authority space at Foothills.

Four Executives from the now defunct Englewood, CO. based sporting goods retailer Sports Authority could have received $2.85 million dollars in bonuses until a U.S. Bankruptcy Judge denied Sports Authority the pay out. The pizza restaurant located in Fort Collins had been serving residents of the area for the last five years. It is the second restaurant casualty over the last year at the plaza location on Harmony Road.

Could a last ditch effort in the next few days save Sports Authority stores throughout Northern Colorado, with the only change being a different name?
