Shawn Takes Aerial Tour of Fritzler Farms

For 11 years now, in what has become a Northern Colorado staple, the Fritzler family opens the gates to their family farm located seven miles south of Greeley on Highway 85 and invites all of Northern Colorado to come have some fun! Known for the giant corn maize, the farm has grown to house all kinds of fall family fun activities. This year I was lucky enough to go tour the farm and see the maize design from above with my daughter, Shai.

From rock n’ roll legends, a country music hero, patriotism, Denver Bronco pride, a “Wizard of Oz” tribute, and more the Fritzler Corn Maize has featured many memorable designs. This year is no different. The design this year depicts an iconic, scenic snapshot of life in the United States of America. It also comes complete with a giant awareness ribbon.  According to owner Glen Fritzler, “We asked for suggestions on face book for this years’ maze design and the most popular theme was cancer support.  My family and I decided rather than just represent one disease, by utilizing the awareness ribbon, we could spotlight several causes and the design grew from there.”

As mentioned before, along with the maize comes all kinds of other fun on the Fritzler Farm. This year you can also go in a second portion of the maize called Scream Acres that will make the hair stand up on your back. There are several courtyard activities to choose from as well. Take a car on the ATV mini rollercoaster barrel train, head over to the go-cart tracks and pedal your way around on a four-wheel go-cart or challenge your friend to an obstacle course on the three-wheel carts, the pumpkin cannon lets you shoot pumpkins across the farm at targets, a brand new giant slide was added this year, and back again are the pillow jumps! This is just some of the fun that the Fritzler Farm offers along with more activities for young and old alike, food, and a pumpkin patch.

The farm is now open Friday through Sundays with Scream Acres opening September 30^th, and Wednesday and Thursday also being open during October. Get the full schedule here.
