Scott Walker Out – Was It His Tie?
Wisconsin Governor, Scott Walker, dropped out of the Republican Presidential Race yesterday. Do you think it had anything to do with his tie? His style? Let's recap.Political style from the second debate on Wednesday, September 16, 2015, proved to be the same old sh*t just a different day with black suits, red ties and loafers like a bunch of tourists vacationing in the Hamptons, or living in the Chicago corporate world.
Yeah, yeah. I hear you, I'm a week late on my recap of the GOP Presidential Debate (2nd Debate on Wednesday, September 16, 2015). Sue me. I have Apple TV. (And yes, I watch Fear the Walking Dead a day late.) You know you are still thinking about what woman you would put on the ten dollar bill. But, I digress. Was anyone else stunned by the look of these GOP debaters? The suits, the ties, the shoes, the HAIR-- and the whole look of each was so...Agent Smith. Hello, Mr. Anderson.
Let's take a closer look at the look they dared to show to 20 million on TV. (Don't they know by now, the inter-webs will never let these things die.) Of the eleven debaters, nine wore red ties. Donald Trump was the only one who dared to be different with a slanted striped blue and white tie. (Is that why they put him in the middle? Or is that because he paid for that spot?) It could be his lack of political experience or refusal to live in the year 2015 and get rid of the comb-over. We will never know the story behind his ground-breaking style. What points Trump scored for his loud tie, his outlandish hair-do and worn out Botox look took away. The deflated pout he wore on his lips about 95 percent of the debate won't score him any points in the U.S. Those of us plagued with RBF (Resting Bitch Face) know the affects of this horrendous affliction. People will see him on the street and think that he is completely unfriendly, consistently upset and impossible to please. Is that how he wants to show himself?
Fashion advisory-- this year marks the return of the lapel pin! These men are proud to wear the pin-- probably a gift from the GOP elitists to show who's the most popular or has donated the most money. Do you think that Scott Walker didn't wear the right pin? It is a dangerous thing in today's world to walk out without considering every detail. Really, when you look at the debaters, it's hard to pick who wore it best-- the only change between them is a blue or white shirt that will make their tie "pop," which was probably picked out for them by their mistresses...err, campaign managers. An honorable mention is deserved for two of the GOP hopefuls on stage. Ben Carson wore a decidedly different grey-toned suit which allowed him to stand out among the crowd. And Jeb Bush was determined to be bold with a blue tie (the only one in the crowd) and it worked. It really brought out his cheek color and I think gave him an edge the others didn't have.
Overall, I can't say that fashion has changed much for political debates or candidates over the past few years. So, as to why Scott Walker left the race, I think I can say most likely it wasn't the wrong tie. But it leads me to wonder, will the day ever come that we see someone up front who looks like you and me? Come on - pull out your favorite sweatshirt, mom-jeans, and have a few beers. After about beer three we might see the real candidates and hear what they really think about the issues. Until then, we are stuck with the same ole' good old boys club with starched shirts, pleated pants and loafers who are getting off on making the other look bad with catty remarks.
