Romero Remembers the 80’s
As we prep for the Qdoba Mexican Grill Ultimate 80's Party, I was reminded of my youth. I grew up ( actually I never grew up, rock & roll keeps me forever young, at least young at heart) in the 80's,raised on MTV, when they actually played music videos, not goofy ass reality TV shows about dysfunctional teen moms & crazy drunk Italians stuck in tanning booths off the Jersey shore.
Some will question the fashion, although I loved the big hair, ripped up stonewashed jeans, checkered Vans, jean jackets, high top Cons, wrestling shoes, spandex, Aquanet, cool concert t-shirts, bandanas, pastel t's with white linen suits ala "Miami Vice" (Don Johnson had the cool 5 o'clock shadow we all wanted, my shadow looked like dirt on my upper lip). The movies were cooler too, "Fast Times At Ridgemont High", " Valley Girl" (back when Nic Cage was too cool for school & started appearing in any film out there) ,"16 Candles", "Top Gun", "Goonies," E.T". "Back To The Future", &" Ferris Bueller's Days Off" are just a few of my favorite flicks.
But my true love was the music... Motley, VH, Journey, Bon Jovi, Ratt, Tesla, Winger, Warrant, Whitesnake, Great White, (how many "w" bands were there???) Poison, Cinderella, Def Leppard, The Scorpions, & Dokken. The list goes on & on. I actually had a friend Rik, who was a "waver", he turned me onto bands like U2, INXS, The Cure, Depeche Mode, Psychadelic Furs, & Duran Duran.
If you think about it, we could talk music, fashion & film for days, but I'm telling you the parties we had, the clothes we wore, the concerts we went to, the films we saw, never will we have a time like that again.
The closest thing you can get to that experience is to buy a ticket to our Qdoba 80's party. So gas up the Camaro, steal the DeLorean,or grab your skateboard and come party with us, I promise it will be a totally bitchin' time, fer sure, like totally dude...
