Adopt the Pace of Nature – Her Secret Is Patience
The title of this blog is actually a quote from Ralph Waldo Emerson. And to be quite honest the whole purpose of this blog is to be a reminder to me. But, if I have an issue with being patient, I am sure that there are others out there who do too. Hopefully this little reminder helps us all.
The idea for writing this is actually inspired by the roads in Colorado this morning. They are slick, slushy, and just plain not fun to drive on. I am as guilty or more than anyone else about being extremely impatient in the car. If you are not going at least two or three miles an hour over the speed limit I get antsy and feel like I need to pass or ride their you know what. But, especially on mornings like today it is important to remember that everyone's safety revolves around people driving safely, and sometimes that means slowly. Just think that the extra ten minutes it takes you to get somewhere could save you hours of sitting in the cold at the scene of an accident. It's Friday, be patient, and I promise your weekend will be a better one than if you got impatient and wrecked.
This goes for all things in life too. Yes, I realize life is short, but if you rush anything you are sure to make it a wreck too. I am a firm believer that everything happens for a reason, and though you have to work for the things you want, you also have to be patient in waiting for those things to happen. If they don't happen they weren't meant to be.
Don't rush to yell at someone for something they probably didn't mean to do. Wait, let it blow over, and you probably won't be as mad, and hurt their feelings. Don't get in a hurry to get married to someone you aren't sure you can love forever. Be patient, make sure it is right, and you will end up happily in love for life. Don't go out and spend all your money on the latest, greatest phone. There will be a newer, better one in a month, and the one you just bought will be free.
Moral of the story. Think everything you do through before you do it. Be patient, for "A man who is a master of patience is master of everything else." ~ George Savile
Oh, one of my favorite songs ever happens to be called "Patience." Not that it really has to do with this blog, but why not, huh?
