One of the Worlds Rarest Beers, Westvleteren 12, to Be Sold In Fort Collins Friday
I am one of those guys who is fine with drinking a Bud Lite when I want a beer, but there is something mystical about the opportunity to drink a beer that you can normally only get in Belgium. One of the rarest beers in the world brewed by reclusive Trappist monks is coming to Fort Collins Friday. It will be one of only a handful of liquor stores to offer the rare beer.
In need of funds for a renovation, The abbey of Saint Sixtus of Westvleteren will release for the first time in the U.S., a limited amount of Westvleteren 12. Wilbur's Total Beverage Wine & Spirits, in Fort Collins has been selected as one a handful of liquor stores to offer the beer that many hail the best in the world.
Wilbur’s received 36 six-packs of the Westvleteren 12, which it will sell on a first come first serve basis Friday at 9 a.m. One six-pack is $85.
Wilbur's said they have been receiving calls from around the country from people trying to buy the beer. They anticipate it will go quickly Friday when the doors open. The store is not permitted to break up the six packs to sell them individually and is only allowed to make $3 profit on each six-pack.
Wilbur’s is one of four stores in Colorado that will have the Westvleteren 12 for sale. The other stores are in Denver, Boulder and Colorado Springs.
