Nine Arrests Made in Johnstown Prostitution Sting

Nine adults were arrested following a prostitution sting that was carried out by Northern Colorado law enforcement on January 12 in Johnstown. According to police, an at-risk juvenile was also rescued during the undercover operation and has been taken into protective custody.

Officers from the Johnstown, Loveland, Fort Collins and Evans police departments were involved in conducting the sting, along with Larimer County Sheriff’s deputies, Homeland Security officers and FBI agents. The arrests occurred in the area of Interstate 25 Frontage Road and Larimer County Road 16, about five miles southwest of Greeley. Law enforcement responded to ads that had been posted on various escort websites and scheduled appointments with the women for sexual services in exchange for payment. However, when the women showed up, they were met with handcuffs instead of money, and taken into custody on suspicion of solicitation for prostitution. The juvenile was located during a traffic stop, after authorities pulled over a vehicle that had been associated with one of the women suspected of prostituting. During that same traffic stop, two men were also arrested – one in connection for outstanding warrants and the other on suspicion of human trafficking. The names of those arrested have not yet been released.

Johnstown police say they plan to conduct similar operations in the future in attempt to crack down on human trafficking and prostitution in Northern Colorado.
