Being able to leave campus for lunch is every high schooler’s dream. Back in the day, I would race home when the bell rang and try to fry myself up a grilled cheese in that short half-hour break before running back to class.

If this restaurant had existed when I was in high school, all of my savings would have gone there instead.

New restaurant serves up both boba tea and gyros

Boba is one of the most divisive treats in the food world right now. Lots of people love the squishy, gooey balls of starch at the bottom of teas and milkshakes, while others can’t get past the texture and taste.

Boba is definitely popular with teens and young people - whether they go for the traditional tapioca starch orbs boiled in brown sugar, or popping flavors like strawberry and mango, Gen Z loves their bubble tea.

Gyros are another staple of modern fast food. A blend of beef and lamb gets roasted on a spit and carved into flatbread sandwiches or served with fresh vegetables. Vegetarians can opt for falafel, deep-fried balls of ground up chickpeas, instead.

Oscar’s Gyros and Boba opens in Loveland near Mountain View High School

Oscar’s Gyros and Boba is sure to be popular with the students at Mountain View High School in Loveland. The new restaurant offers cute boba drinks and huge portions right across the street from MVHS, in the former Peace, Love and Little Donuts location. The “Oscar’s Original Gyros” meal even comes with french fries inside the sandwich.

Oscar’s offers classic tea flavors like matcha and Thai tea, with a random emoji printed on each sealed lid. For non-tea drinkers, they also serve up fruit juice and fountain sodas. For a sweet treat after lunch, consider an ice cream tea float, or a classic serving of baklava, with its layers of pastry, walnuts and honey.

Just make sure not to go during the high school lunch rush.
