As you well know, music is released on Tuesdays (for the most part) but I typically post about New Music Tuesday on Wednesday so I can have some time to check out the week's new releases and maybe unearth something cool from a band I didn't know before. Last week was a GREAT week for new music. This week is light and every week will likely be light on NEW releases for the remainder of the year as the labels trot out the cash grabbing greatest hit albums. You shouldn't but those unless you don't have any music from that band and you want an audio crash course. Otherwise, they are a HUGE waste of money. Why pay for something you ALREADY paid for? How many times have you been paid for something you did 10 years ago? Once. Right. If you want the 'bonus' songs that were previously unreleased, buy them separately. Man. And , by the way, if a band recorded a song that was SO fantastic in 1995 they would sure as hell have released it in 1995. That's not to say some of these previously unreleased songs aren't cool. Some are. Some aren't and were never released for a reason. Okay. On to this week's highlights:

Motorhead "Aftershock"

There just aren't very many bands in the 'sound like' category. By that I mean, bands sound like them. Countless bands sound like Motorhead. Motorhead sounds like....Motorhead. Standout tracks include "Lost Woman Blues", "Heartbreaker" , "Paralyzed" and "Death Machine." It's Motorhead. Man.   Okay so that's really the only thing I really dig that came out this week so far. That may change after I spend more time with a few other records. Here are a couple other from this week that you may want check:

AFI "Burials"

People go nuts for these guys and it's their first record since 1957 or..something. It's been awhile and the ladies (and dudes) love Davey Havok (his real name).

Katy Perry "Prism"

Hey, don't judge. That 'Roar' song is catchy and it's my song of choice at aerobics class as of late.

Emphatic "Another Life"

This is their second record and if you liked their last one you'll probably dig this too. They never really grabbed me but I mean, I like that Katy Perry song so, don't take my word for it.

There it is. Yes. LIGHT week. Check out some of last week's fantastic releases by Monster Magnet, Pearl Jam, The Head & The Heart, Cults, Death Angel, Red Fang , Willie Nelson, The Avett Brothers and Pelican to fill out this week's lightness. Next week, look for a new Sepultura record!
