Midnight Moon Moonshine Not For the Faint of Heart
By faint of heart I mean me. Midnight Moon Moonshine is not for me! You hear all the stories about moonshiners, see the TV shows, and it's make you curious. I wasn't so curious that I went looking for it, but I did go to the liquor store before the Super Bowl looking to try something new. When I spotted "real" moonshine, I couldn't help myself. I won't make that mistake again.
Everything about the moonshine made me want it. The different flavor choices, the cool packaging, and the intrigue of having moonshine. The price didn't matter, I was buying some no matter what, but turns out it wasn't too pricey... $19.99 for a 750ml jar.
The only choice I had left was what flavor to get... Apple Pie, Blackberry, Blueberry, Cherry, Cranberry, Strawberry, or Original. The Apple Pie was my first choice, but it had less alcohol, and after all it is moonshine, so I choose the 100 proof Blueberry.
I was so excited to try this stuff, that I barely made it home. Once the cap came off the jar I knew I was in trouble. The stuff smelt nothing like blueberries, but more like rubbing alcohol. Taste was even worse. There was no berry flavor, and it burned so bad going down that I almost cried. The blueberries floating around in the jar were just as bad. Bite into one and you got an explosion of this horrible stuff all over your mouth.
We drank it anyways, and if getting drunk was the goal the stuff was great. I have since looked at the companies website, and there are recipes that could make it more bearable.
As for me, I can now say I have had moonshine, and I can also say I won't be doing that again!
