For THIRTY years now, the Loveland Chamber of Commerce has been holding the Old Fashioned Corn Roast Festival, an event that actually dates all the way back to the late 1800's

From The Chamber's website:

According to chamber records, Mr. James Swan, a prosperous farmer living seven miles east of Loveland, conceived the idea of a corn roast to advertise the agricultural resources around the city. The idea at once found favor with the businessmen and the first corn festival was held In the fall of 1894. The festival was held annually, except in the fall of 1902 when it was not held owing to the illness of C.C. Bushnell, who was one of the leading spirits of the celebration since its beginning.  Corn Roast days gave way to the Larimer County Fair which was held in Fort Collins until Sept. 10, 1912, when it was moved to Loveland. The Annual Corn Roast was revived by the Loveland Chamber of Commerce in 1982 and remains a staple event throughout the community.

It's all going to take place at Fairgrounds Park in Loveland.  Friday night things get underway with the corn-shucking contest at 5:30, with a beer garden, roasted corn, vendors and a concert by the 80's tribute band- RETRO!

Saturday it all starts again with lots of entertainment - including the Rotary Rubber Duck Race, the corn eating contest, live bands and more!

We'll see you out there this weekend!
