Did this Colorado Building Claim the Lives of its Previous Owners?
While not technically a ghost town, the tiny and historic Silver Plume, Colorado comes pretty close and has some eerie stories that make it arguably creepier than many of the state's abandoned towns.

These stories come from one building on Silver Plume's Main Street that isn't just known for its abandoned storefront, but more so the similar means by which two of its owners likely met their respective demises.
Part I: Silver Plume Colorado Business Owner Dies Mysteriously
Back in 1987, the historic building at 855 Main Street in Silver Plume, Colorado was home to a bookstore owned by a man named Tom Young.
However, on September 7 of that year, Young announced that he and his dog were going on a European vacation that, sadly, never actually came to fruition.
After roughly nine months of no word from Young, a search team scoured the area and eventually discovered the remains of Young and his dog, along with a revolver, on nearby Republican Mountain. Both bodies had bulletholes in their skulls and it was presumed that Young killed his dog and committed suicide.
Part II: Silver Plume Colorado Business' New Owner Meets Similar Fate
Fast forward a few months and Keith Reinhard found himself in Silver Plume where he planned to write a novel and eventually move his family, all whilst experiencing a midlife crisis of sorts.
Prior to learning of the building's past owner's fate, Reinhard opened up an antique shop at the then-vacant building at 855 Main Street. However, Reinhard began to become depressed and started asking around town about Tom Young.
In fact, he became so obsessed with Young that the deceased former business owner became a pivotal character in the novel Reinhard was working on.
One day, disappointed with his inability to turn a profit, Reinhard walked around town announcing that he was heading on a hike up nearby Pendelton Mountain and to alert authorities if he hadn't returned by the next morning.
Unfortunately, not only did Reinhard not return from this hike, but despite wide search efforts, was never seen again.
