Springtime weather in Colorado can be a little unpredictable sometimes. In the mountains, April is the state's second snowiest month of the year. In Colorado's lower elevations, daytime highs in April start to reach the 60s and 70s.

Since warmer weather makes it easier to go outside, let's take a look at some of the festivals and events coming up in April that you can add to your Colorado calendar.

Colorado Tartan Day Festival (April 12th & 13th)
Celebrate all things Scotland at Colorado's Tartan Day Festival at the Boulder County Fairgrounds in Longmont. The Tartan Day Festival is April 12th &13th, featuring a tartan parade, combat demonstrations, live music, and a chance to show off your tartan fashion sense. Or lack thereof.
Tartan Day festivities are free and open to the public both days.
Barrel Into Spring Wine Event (April & May)
In Palisade, Colorado, the temps hit 70 for the first time back in February. You won't find any snow here unless you are looking up at the Grand Mesa. Spring has mostly sprung in Palisade, so it's time for the 'Barrel into Spring' wine tour. Enjoy tastings and a special passport to guide you on a tour of seven Grand Valley wineries.

Estes Park Bigfoot Days (April 25th & 26th)
What's more fun than a Bigfoot 5K followed by a Bigfoot BBQ? Don't miss Bigfoot Days in Estes Park, Colorado, coming up at the end of the month on the 25th and 26th.
Enjoy live music, axe throwing, inflatable games, craft beer and food vendors, and a red-carpet style premier of The Sasqualogist, a film by Joseph Granda. Find event details here.
