See All 27 Airlines That Fly In and Out of DIA
Colorado has one of the busiest airports in the world at Denver International Airport; millions and millions of travelers have passed through it. Do you know all the airlines that are out there?
Denver International Airport Celebrates 30 Years With Nearly 30 Airlines
Denver International Airport (DIA) opened in 1995, taking over for Stapleton International that was had been in operation since 1929. Thirty years later, DIA has 27 airlines that fly passengers in and out of the Mile High City, 24 hours a day.
The very first flight out of DIA flew to the Kansas City International Airport; the first flight to land at DIA had flown in from Colorado Springs.
If you've traveled around, you can agree that Denver International is one of best airports in the world, as well as one of the busiest. We become spoiled by how nice DIA when we travel to places like Phoenix or Philadelphia: "What is this? This is NOT Denver..." We should all be proud, even though it can be frustrating at times, that we have a great airport.
DIA's 27 Airports Can Take You Across the World, or Just Across the State
Being an international airport, many leave Denver headed out to destinations outside of America. One airline takes you to the Cayman Islands, which always reminds me of the Tom Cruise move, "The Firm." There are a couple, though, that are used to just get over to the Western Slope.
Some Airlines at DIA Have Names That Are Contrary to Their Destinations
You would think that an airline at DIA called "Sun Country" would be taking you to California or Florida, but they actually only fly Denver to Minneapolis. Crazy, right?
