Colorado Man On Flight That Crashed In Toronto Shares His Story
If you've turned on a TV or looked at any social media over the last couple weeks, you've no doubt seen all kinds people talking about what seems to be a wave of airplane crashes happening all across the United States, and now Canada.
In reality, January 2025 had 62 aviation accidents in the US, the fewest since the lowest ever record was set back in January 2012, with 70 that month of that year.
The difference is that we've experienced a few high profile incidents, involving commercial airliners, and thus tragically causing more loss of life than small planes with many fewer passengers and crew on board.
One of those incidents occurred just days ago, when a regional Delta flight from Minneapolis crashed at Pearson International Airport in Toronto, Canada, with some of the craziest video footage you've ever seen.
One of the passengers on board that plane was from Colorado, traveling to Toronto for work, and spoke with one of our Denver TV stations sharing his account of what it was like to be inside the plane as it appears to touch down then roll over to the right, breaking off a wing and flipping over onto its roof as it skids down the runway with flames shooting out around it.
The man's name is Peter Koukov, a Denver resident, and was headed to Toronto to shoot skiing content for a magazine. His story is pretty remarkable. He's been making the media rounds and you can hear his story via 9News in Denver.
