Northern Colorado Donut Shops Locals Swear By
With it being Mother's Day weekend, I'm excited for a few things, one of them being breakfast in bed. And because I personally have a sweet tooth myself, I went on the hunt for the tastiest small business donut shops.
While it's pretty hard to get the donut formula wrong, I would guess that we've all had a dry, stale donut before. Yuck. That doesn't mean we don't eat the stale donut, because we aren't wasters, but when a donut is prepared the right way, it's magic.
My favorite local donut shops in Northern Colorado
We have to start with a staple in Windsor. Mr. Yo's is a family-owned and operated shop, and it's been around for a very long time. The owner, Hyo Jang, opened his first donut shop in Windsor back in 2013, and it was such a success that he went on to open another location in Fort Collins.
Next up, let's head a little south for a Loveland staple called the Donut Haus. This delicious establishment has been slinging donuts in Loveland for many years, but did you know they started in Estes Park? Be sure to try one of their ginormous apple fritters.
Winchell's has been a Greeley staple for decades, and if you ask any Greeley local their favorite Winchell's treat, odds are you'll hear answers such as maple bars, cinnamon rolls, and breakfast sandwiches.
While Wellington doesn't officially have a donut shop, it is often visited by Auntie Jo's Donuts, a traveling treat pop-up business. If you're a native to Wellington, you know that when Auntie Jo's Donuts come around, you just have to get a dozen of their handmade sourdough donuts.
So if you're looking for a locally owned and operated small business donut shop, you should definitely check these out.
