The Prosecutors on this case claim that Mohamed Sabry Soliman concocted a sort of makeshift flamethrower and used Molotov cocktails to assault a crowd of people who were "peacefully calling for the release of Israeli hostages in Gaza."

Who Was Targeted in the Boulder Flamethrower Incident?

The injured individuals were a part of a group called "Run For Our Lives — Boulder " and had been holding demonstrations since the Hamas attack on Israel on October 7th, 2023, according to NBC News.

Initial reports claimed that the 45-year old from Egypt shouted "Free Palestine!" as he tossed the incendiary devices into the crowd of people.

How Many People Were Hurt in the Boulder Attack?

At least fifteen people and one dog were injured during the attack. The age of the victims range from 25 to 88.

The suspect was caught by local law enforcement just six minutes after the attacks unfolded, reports say.

What Charges Is Soliman Facing?

Soliman is facing 28 attempted murder charges. The charges don't stop there.

Other charges include first-degree assault, animal cruelty, and use of an incendiary device, and a federal hate crime charge, according to Colorado Public Radio.

Soliman’s Immigration Status and Background

Soliman entered the United States legally in 2022 on a tourist visa. He applied for asylum, according to a report from NBC News.

What’s Happening to Soliman’s Family?

His family, which includes his wife and five children (ages 4, 4, 8, 15, and 17) were taken into the custody of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (I.C.E.).

According to a report from NBC News, a federal judge has blocked their deportation for the time being. The family's legal representation claims that they had no knowledge that Mohamed Sabry Soliman would commit these acts.

Where Is the Family Now?

Soliman's wife and children are still being held in the family detention center in Texas while their lawyer is fighting to get them released, reports confirm.
