From Colorado to Mars

People in Colorado don't just get high... we send s**t to Mars!

I love space documentaries, I watch them once a week.

Last Sunday, Sept. 21st at 10:24pm, after travelling 442 million miles, a NASA spacecraft that was built right here in Colorado, successfully entered Mars' orbit!

She's called MAVEN, which is short for Mars Atmosphere and Volative Evolution, and she was built in Denver at Lockheed Martin Space Systems by a team that was led by some super-smarties from UC, the University of Colorado, and the Laboratory for Atmospheric and Space Physics. MAVEN's mission will be to study the atmosphere on Mars, (or lack of) figure out why the Red Planet lost all it's water, and loads of other cool spacey-science stuff. Learn more about MAVEN.
