Five Coloradoans who will Ski for Gold in the 2018 Winter Olympics
The 2018 Winter Olympics kick off February 9th in Pyeongchang, South Korea (I can't pronounce that town, either, don't worry.) Sports demonstrated at their best will be the biathalon, bobsleigh, curling, figure skating, ice hockey, luge, combined nordic, speed skating, skeleton (which I would become one of instantly if I attempted most of these,) and skiing.
The 22 alpine skiiers come from seven states: Vermont, New York, Colorado, Nevada, Utah, California, and Oregon. Five are from Colorado:
- David Chodunsky (Crested Butte)
- Wiley Maple (Aspen)
- Alice McKennis (New Castle)
- Mikaela Shiffrin (Eagle-Vail)
- Lindsey Vonn (Vail)
Skiing is also involved in some of the other sports, though. The biathalon, for example, is a combination of skiing and rifle shooting. But do they do they combine the two? Now THAT would be a sport!
