Dumb Name For A Band?

Do you think Foo Fighters is a stupid name for a band? Dave Grohl does.

In an interview last Sunday with Anderson Cooper on 60 Minutes, Dave Grohl confessed that he considers Foo Fighters to be a stupid band name.

"Had I imagined that it would last more than a month-and-a-half, " Grohl said, "I might have named it something else. It's the dumbest band name ever."

I have to admit Dave, I used to think it was a terrible name, too. After coming from a band with one of the greatest names of all time, (Nirvana) I was unimpressed. I then learned, much later, that "foo fighters" was a term used by aircraft pilots in World War II to describe UFOs and mysterious aeriel phenomenon. Apparently, foo fighter sightings were frequent and always terrifying, as they were usually thought to be secret weapons employed by the enemy.

Maybe I watch too many war documentaries. Or maybe I'm just getting old... but all that seems pretty interesting. Foo Fighters isn't a bad name for a band! I mean, it's not NIRVANA... but it's not bad.
