Don’t Forget Those We Lost at Sandy Hook Elementary School
It has been one week since one of the most disgusting things to ever happen in the United States occurred. For everyone that is not directly affected by the tragedy time will heal the wounds. But I am here to remind you not to forget those we lost that frightful day in December of 2012.
It seems as though what really came out of the tragedy for most of the country is a huge debate on mental illness and gun control. That is fine, and maybe there are things that need to be changed in this country to avoid other tragedies from happening, but it is also important not to make an example out of the 26 people we lost.
They didn't go in that school last Friday morning with any intention of doing anything but going to school to learn or teach. Yes, we can learn from what happened, but we need to remember these people for who they were, not what happened to them.
Not that you should recite the names each night before bed, or even memorize all of them for some sort of test, you should take the time to read a little about who they were, and maybe send a little prayer for them.
