A breath test to determine marijuana impairment is in the works!

Ever since voters made regulated cannabis legal in Colorado, local law enforcement officials have been in need of a tool to test drivers for THC (the psychoactive component in marijuana) impairment.

A THC breath test, developed by researchers from Washington State University, is currently in the works. It will be similar to the current alcohol intoxication breath testing tools used today.

Researchers plan to have devices ready for use in the field in 2015.
