Candlebox Celebrates 20 Years Tonight In Fort Collins

The year was 1993. I was only 6 or 7 years old, but luckily I had some great musical influences in my life. I can still remember rolling around Greeley in my moms beat up old Eagle Talon blasting Candlebox. 20 years later we get to celebrate what once was in our own neighborhood at the Aggie Theater tonight (August 1st). 

When you think of a band from Seattle in the 90's you immediately think of flannel shirts, and Doc Martin's, but these guys were different... Real, hard, 90's, ROCK!

The band actually formed in 1990, but made it big with the release of their self-titled debut album in '93. The album contains their best known hit, "Far Behind", as well as the hit singles "Change", "You" and "Cover Me". The album has since been certified 4× platinum in the United States.

Hot off the success of Candlebox, the band was eager to progress and by April 1994 had 36 new songs for a follow-up record. On October 3, 1995, Candlebox released their second album, Lucy. Although it marked the beginning of a commercial subsidence, Lucy was certified gold thanks to singles such as "Simple Lessons" and "Understanding".

On July 21, 1998, Candlebox released their third studio album, Happy Pills. While a return to the simpler sound of their debut, it gained only marginal success.

The band eventually went through some trouble with their record label, went on hiatus, and replaced a few members, but returned in 2006, and have been going strong since.

Tonight we celebrate 20 years with their debut album being played in it's entirety at the Aggie in Fort Collins.
