Butch Wins Twice at the Colorado Broadcaster’s Association Awards

Before there was rock in Northern Colorado, I was still doing my thing. My thing was just a little different. A show on an oldies and country station was my pre-Butch routine. Although, I finally have my dream job, I am still proud of some of things I accomplished before Loudwire existed. I was honored to receive two awards at this years Colorado Broadcaster's Association Awards. 

It was an neat just to be in the presence of all the best radio and television broadcasters in the state. All of the local news folks along with the best radio DJ's, plus all the big wigs get all dressed up and have dinner and an Emmy-like awards ceremony to celebrate the best broadcasters from the past year.

First of all congratulations to KUSA, A.K.A. 9News in Denver, for winning just about every TV award there was. Radio was much more diverse.

The first award I won, I didn't even know I was up for. When I heard my and the stations name I was completely shocked! Best Public Service Announcement was the award for an ad campaign we did on our country station for the 30th anniversary at the Weld Food Bank.

The second award of the night was extremely meaningful to me. Last July I put on a fundraiser called "Lures 4 Laney" to honor a local 3-year-old who passed away from brain cancer, and also to raise money to benefit childhood cancer at Children's Hospital. I put my heart and soul into the event, and it treacly meant the world to me. Even without the award, it would have been the most important thing I had ever done, but the award I won Saturday night made me realize all the blood  sweat, and tears were recognized on the highest level in Colorado. The award was one of the most honorable things that has ever happened to me, and I will be forever grateful for the event and the hundreds of people who helped me pull it off. It may be cliche, but that award truly is for everyone who was a part of "Lures 4 Laney." I cannot thank you enough!
