Boulder Creates Interactive Map to Show Where Heaviest Smoke Is
There's no getting away from the wildfire smoke (you can see it from space), but a new forecast model created in Boulder shows where the smoke concentration is heaviest and lightest in Colorado.
According to 9NEWS, the High-Resolution Rapid Refresh model will show you the smoke forecast for the next 18 hours (and it's not great for us here in Fort Collins, but you could probably tell already).
You can read more about how HRRR works here, and see our smoke forecast from NOAA here.
As of Tuesday, August 25, Fort Collins, Loveland and Windsor are in the orange to light red range for vertically integrated smoke, which is between 40 and 75 micrograms per square meter. For near-surface smoke (air quality), Northern Colorado is in the blue range.
