Boston, ‘Rock & Roll Band’ – Butch’s Way Back Wednesday
As a music fan there is always something new and great, but there really is something special about the songs you grew up listening to. For me, that was 70′s and 80′s classic rock. If I am in a shi**y mood, I throw in a little Zeppelin or Rush and take a trip back to rolling in my mom’s T-Bird. Now every Wednesday you get to take that trip with me. It’s Way Back Wednesday with Butch, and today’s feature celebrates a legendary band that announced a new tour today… Boston’s, “Rock & Roll Band.”
One of my favorite bands of all-time. A band with a true love for rock music. Boston announced today that they will be hitting the road this summer for the first time since 2012. The band revealed a series of dates to promote their most recent album, ’Life, Love & Hope.’ Although no Colorado date has been revealed yet, I'd bet big bucks it's coming.
"Rock and Roll Band" was written by Tom Scholz and first released on the band's eponymous debut album. It is one of six songs Scholz worked on in his basement in 1974 and 1975 before Boston got its record contract, five of which eventually appeared on the Boston album.
The band was big on singing about music, how that music made them feel and their jobs making that music. They pull off this cut from their debut album like they're seasoned vets, congratulating themselves on a job well done... even if that job was playing for a dozen people in a Rhode Island bar.
Now take a trip back 38 years with us to 1976...
